Tunes lately

I've been really enjoying my stereo (latest upgrade the center channel) so much so, it's brought life back to music.....I've dusted off a few albums and I'm so impressed. I've been listening to a lot of Pink Floyd lately (dark side of the moon) and a few concert dvd's: Roger Waters and David Gilmour live performances - both are excellent. Also Diana Krall, U2, Radiohead, Eric Clapton, ...

My dad has crates and crates of vinyl. When I was younger, I never liked "his" music, but he always said - one day you'll appreciate this music. A few years back on my b-day all we listened to was my dads vinyl collection - he has so many vinyl gems..... I couldn't believe that I had never truly listened to them before. Now I know....

I'm currently listening to Mars Volta (have always enjoyed the Mars), but now I truly appreciate their talent, complexity, simplicity and versatility. Its not quite the music for everyone - Sus doesn't fuss for them much - but for me, every time I listen to their albums, I feel like its taking me somewhere else - always discovering something new and their albums are almost the only albums I've never been bored of. All three albums are amazing:

De-loused in the Comatorium
Frances the mute
Amputechture

Pick them up - you won't be disappointed.

I've put some pictures up of my stereo (not that it matters), its similar to any toy - once you have something you always want something better / bigger / stronger / louder / cleaner / etc.... but I am content at the moment!

Weekend

Have been pretty busy lately, both Sus and I have been extremely busy at work - the past few days we haven't even really seen each other (she was working late yesterday), I worked late (9pm) tonight - but at least its the weekend. We'll be heading over to Bunks' place to watch hockey day in Canada. Sunday, Sus has book club and I'll be watching some football with Peggers.

I watched Hero tonight for the first time - I actually bought the dvd last year around x-mas and it was still in shrink wrap - unwrapped it - put the music up loud, ate pizza and drank beer - good flick I might add - great story / cinematography / sound.

Stereo

Upgraded the center channel on my home theatre to a B&W LCR600 S3. It actually matches quite well to the front speakers JBL e90's. The problem I had with my older polk audio cs175 center was it could not keep up with the e90's and while watching movies, the music would drown out the vocals. The B&W has a much wider spectrum allowing for a better sound not to mention a better speaker design.

For me, having a good/great stereo makes all the difference when watching a movie or even tv. Going back to watching a movie through the tv speakers is like nails on a chalk board. Anyone else feel the same way? Or am I just going crazy?
