Thursday Oilers vs Sabres in Buffalo:

Picked up pegs at 12:30 in TO and we were on our way. Five minutes into our trip we were crusin' down the QEW and I ran out of windshield washer fluid – 4 ways on, hood up on the QEW and one bottle of fluid and we were back on the road.
Made it into Niagra around 2pm – checked into our hotel (Sheraton Fallsview) and then stopped at a Wendy's to grab some food.
We then proceeded to Buffalo to do some shopping (even though we came out empty handed – it's still neat to go through stores we don't have here in Canada). We were looking for the Olive Garden and found it too late, so we decided just to head to the rink and pick up some food / booze there.
Made it down to the pre-game skate and I took a few pictures of the Oilers warming up – was neat meeting the Oiler fans (most from .ca of course).
We were sitting at the top of the stadium surrounded by about 20 oiler fans watching the game and my skin tight jersey was a good hit.
Great game – back and forth – the Oil were up 1-0 on a nice goal from Horcoff. Affiniganov (sp?) scored the tying goal in the second and forced the game into OT where Briere scored one of the prettiest goals (and patient goals) that I have seen. A little disappointed at the verdict, but the oilers put up a good fight.
Thank goodness for GPS (after sitting in a parking lot traffic jam for 45 minutes) we were back on the road and over the border in no time. Decided to hit the casino and drop a few bucks and end off with a night cap at the sheraton bar.

Slept in, went to Denny's then hit the road to drop pegs off to work on friday.

Saturday Oilers vs Leafs:

Susie and I met up with Matt and Kristen at lonestar. I had picked up (lukily) 4 tickets for the leaf vs. oiler game. Had a few wobbly pops before the game and the Manager at the Lonestar tipped us off that the Oilers were having a closed, but open practice at York U (where I used to play hockey) on Sunday. AWESOME!

Oilers lost another heartbreaker 4-3, I was in the bar by myself when the Oilers scored on the penalty shot – but I definitely made my presence felt. I was also interviewed by CityTV (but don't think my interview hit the airwaves because of the leafs celebration of 40 years and no cup LOL).

Sunday Oiler practice

I made it to the practice (11:00 to 1pm) and have one picture that sums it all up for the Oilers this year. Smyth on his way out – what foreshadowing this had on the franchise.

This has definitely been a rough few days for us true die hard Oiler fans. There are very few players who play with the heart and passion as Smyth (Gretzky was another). He will be irreplaceable. We (Oilers fans) can only hope he will return one day wearing the blue and copper.
